This home is in a historic district of Detroit, and we designed, applied, and sat before the Detroit Historic Board for approval to the renovations of this home.
Jewel Construction and Remodeling Services Inc. removed a pre existing structure that was falling down for safety reasons. Once the structure was removed we proceeded by framing on the existing foundation to create a all season room. We installed tongue and grove cedar board to the ceiling, recessed can lighting, a ceiling fan and custom trim work to match existing features for this historic home.
Jewel Construction installed Pella windows with wood interior molding and vinyl exterior trim , on the exterior we used two separate façade, vinyl cedar shake with masonry brick columns and stair case. the second floor balcony has a walk out that was built on a EPDM rubber roof with a cedar deck to walk on, along with a beautiful wrought Iron railing.
We also renovated the rest of this home by tiling the basement floor throughout, remodeled the 3rd floor bathroom and bedroom to make it a open floor plan. On the 3rd story exterior we strip the façade in order to install a new window. We found that façade was completely rotted due to water damage therefore we reframed the structure area, insulated this area, sheeted, wrapped the area and sided it before we were able to installed the vinyl cedar shake.
Throughout the complete 1st floor we removed all the tile flooring and refinished the hardwood flooring beneath it. In addition we also sanded and refinished the stair case from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor and 3rd floor.
